Hall of Fame
Ian Leggatt played for the Rams from 1986-89, helping the team to 20 tournament victories and three top-ten finishes at the NAIA National Championships, including third place finishes in 1988 and 1989. He was a two-time NAIA All-American selection, garnering the award in 1988 and 1989. In 1989 he was the national runner-up. Leggatt was inducted to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2011.
The native of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, turned pro in 1991, earned his PGA Tour card in 2000, and became one of Canada’s most popular professional golfers. Leggatt, who retired in 2009, is known as a great ambassador for the game in Canada and has garnered the respect of generations of golfers through the professional ranks.
An accomplished resume includes wins on both the Nationwide and PGA Tours. In 2002, he won the Touchstone Energy Tuscon Open PGA event. Leggatt made 65 cuts on the PGA Tour and 40 cuts on the Nationwide Tour and garnered over $2.7 million in career earnings. Leggatt has represented Canada in World Cup play on two occasions: 2001, in New Zealand, and 2002, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Leggatt has been involved with various charities throughout his career, going above and beyond for causes that mean the most to him. In 2008, his charity golf tournament generated more than $2 million for Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities in Canada. While in Texas, he served as Athletic Director for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, and continues to work with kids with disabilities.
Leggatt currently resides in Toronto, where he works for Wasserman Media Group as an agent/consultant in their golf management division. He appears on Rogers Sportsnet as a golf analyst on radio and television and co-hosts “The Fairways Show.” Leggatt has two children, Mia and Aidan.
