Bill White attended Paschal High School in Fort Worth, TX, before attending Texas Wesleyan and playing for the men’s basketball team from 1958 to 1962. White is a member of Texas Wesleyan’s 1,000 Point Club, and he led the Rams to two Big State Conference Championships.
White averaged a career-high 22.8 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game during the 1960-1961 season. He then averaged 20.4 points per game as a senior during the 1961-62 season, and he remains Texas Wesleyan’s career record holder for career field goal percentage.
After graduating from Texas Wesleyan, White received a master’s degree from North Texas State University in 1966 and would spend 37 years in education—mostly in higher education—as a coach, instructor and athletic director in locations like North Texas State, Richland College and Mountain View Community College. He was an assistant basketball coach at North Texas State University. He was a professor of physical education at Richland College from 1973 to 2000.
In 1998, Bill and his wife, Pat ’63, received the Wesleyan Service Award from the Texas Wesleyan University Alumni Association. He retired in 2000 and now owns The Bar W Ranch, a 540-acre working cattle ranch with his brother, Bob, in Terrell. Bill calls the Bar W his “pride and joy.” Bill and Pat have two sons, Bill White Jr. and Lance White, and two grandchildren, Whitney White and Colby White.
