Rams Take RRAC Win over HTU

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (12-9, 9-4 RRAC) took a 4-2 Red River Athletic Conference win over Huston-Tillotson University (5-11, 5-8) at LaGrave Field on Friday.
 
Huston-Tillotson got a leadoff single from Preston Castillo, but was erased when first baseman Hunter Robinson snared a line drive bunt and stepped on the bag for a double play.
 
In the bottom of the first, Taylor Jockers led off with a base hit and scored on a single from Joseph Lassiter. The Rams made it 2-0 with a sac fly from Stephen Niedwiecki.
 
With runners at first and third in the second, the Rams executed a double steal to push the score to 3-0. HTU got on the board with two-out RBI single from Preston Castillo in the third inning, but Robinson blasted a run-scoring double off the base of the wall in left in the bottom of the inning.
 
Howard Limuel led off the fourth inning with a triple for HTU and later scored on a sac fly from Brandon O’Bryan. HTU took advantage of a Texas Wesleyan error and put runners at second and third with one out in the sixth, but relievers Nicolas Jans and Nolan Barbee worked out of the jam with no damage done.
 
After Bradley Stone worked 0.2 scoreless innings, Patrick Stanley nailed down his fifth save of the year by recording the final two outs.
 
Daniel Milliman (3-0) picked up the win after allowing two runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings.
 
Justin Snider went 3-for-3 at the plate in the win, Jockers and Robinson each contributed a pair of hits.
 
The two teams will complete their three-game RRAC series with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
