AUSTIN, TX: Five unearned runs allowed the Huston-Tillotson University softball team (7-12, 4-5 RRAC) to take the finale of a three-game Red River Athletic Conference series from Texas Wesleyan University (10-10, 2-1) on Saturday. After Texas Wesleyan swept Friday’s doubleheader, Huston-Tillotson took game three by a score of 7-4.

 

The Rams took a 1-0 lead with an RBI single from Haley Butler in the top of the first, but HTU responded with two runs on a pair of walks and a double in the bottom of the inning.

 

Two Texas Wesleyan errors gave HTU another run in the second. Raven Moreno cut it to 3-2 when she led off the third inning with a solo homer, but two more errors let three runs cross the plate in the bottom of the inning. Another unearned run in the fifth, pushed HTU’s lead to 7-2.

 

The Rams got an RBI triple from Ashley Seibel and an RBI single from Moreno in the sixth, and put the tying run at the plate in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

 

Ashley Hudson (3-2) took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks in two innings pitched.

 

Moreno went 2-for-2 with a two RBI and a home run in the loss.

 

The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday, when they play their home opener. The Rams will host Northwestern Oklahoma State University in a doubleheader at Sycamore Park beginning at 12:00 p.m.
