FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (12-17, 4-2 RRAC) split a double header against Bacone College (4-20, 2-12 RRAC). The Lady Rams won the first game 8-0 in five innings before dropping game two 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at Sycamore Park.

 

The Lady Rams manufactured a run with an Ashley Hudson RBI sacrifice fly to center that scored Raven Moreno from third. Wesleyan took an early 1-0 lead after one inning.

 

The Lady Rams struck again in the second with an RBI single to left from Courtney Orebaugh to give Wesleyan a 2-0 lead.

 

Wesleyan continued their streak with a nice rally in the third, picking up three runs on four consecutive singles by the heart of the lineup capped off by an Ashleigh Jiminez two RBI single extending the lead to a 5-0 lead.

 

Haley Butler put three more runs on the board with a bomb over the left center fence to make it an 8-0 ball game through four innings.

 

The Texas Wesleyan defense stayed frosty as they took game one 8-0 after five innings.

 

Butler went 2 for 3 in game one with three RBI. Jiminez went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI.

 

Ashley Tarrant (4-6) picked up the win tossing five complete innings. She gave up no runs on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

 

The Lady Warriors caught the Wesleyan off guard scoring two runs in the first off of an error and a two RBI single from pitcher Courtney Williams and a bases loaded walk to give Bacone a 5-0 spot early.

 

The Lady Rams picked up three runs in the fifth inning with a two RBI double from Hudson and a Lindsay Cline RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3 Bacone.

 

The Lady Rams were unable to make a comeback as they drop game two of the double header, but win the series 2-1.

 

Butler went 3 for 3 in the loss, and Hudson went 2 for 4 with two RBI in game two.

 

The Lady Rams are back in action with a series against conference rival Northwood University starting on Wednesday, March 30 in Cedar Hill, TX. The double header on Wednesday is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start. Thursday’s finale is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
