WICHITA, KS: The Texas Wesleyan University dropped three games in Friday’s action at the Friends University Tournament. The Rams fell 10-7 against Hastings College, 11-0 against St. Gregory’s University, and 11-5 against Friends.
Against Hastings, two Texas Wesleyan errors spotted the Broncos a 3-0 lead in the third inning. A three-run homer from Finnigan pushed the score to 6-0 in the fourth.
Texas Wesleyan scored five runs on four hits and two errors in the bottom of the fourth, but Hastings came right back with three unearned runs in the fifth.
Ashley Tarrant (2-3) took the loss after allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits and five walks in 3.1 innings of work.
Marissa Rangel (2-4) and
Hopie Perez (2-4) each had two of Texas Wesleyan’s eight hits.
St. Gregory’s pounded out 12 hits to score three runs in the first, seven in the second and one in the fourth on their way to a run-shortened win.
Taylor Hodge (2-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits in 1.1 innings.
Haley Butler went 2-for-2 at the plate in the loss.
Against Friends, Texas Wesleyan spotted the Falcons six errors and eight walks. The Falcons got unearned tallies in the first and third innings.
Lindsay Cline led off the fourth with a double and later scored on a hit from
Raven Moreno. Cline blasted a three-run homer during a four-run fifth that put the Rams up 5-2. However, five walks led to four Falcon runs in the bottom of the fifth. Friends batted around again in the sixth, to plate five more runs.
Ashley Hudson (3-1) took the loss after allowing six runs, four earned, on one hit and eight walks in 4.1 innings. Cline went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Butler added a pair of hits as Texas Wesleyan outhit Friends 9-5.
The Rams will continue tournament play on Saturday. They will face Sterling College at 10:00 a.m. and Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 2:00 p.m.
