Rams Split With Jaguars

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (29-20) took a 6-2 loss to the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars (25-22) at La Grave Field on Saturday.

 

The Jaguars got on the board after a pair of Ram miscues led to an earned run after a throw to second got into the outfield and scored Tyler Steiner from third to give Houston-Victoria an early 1-0 lead.

 

Houston-Victoria added another run in the fifth off of a RBI fielder’s choice play.  Justin Longoria brought two more runs in with a single to left field to put the Jaguars up 4-0.

 

The Rams got on the board with a Christian Soberanes RBI 4-3 put out that scored Vincent Winter from third in the fifth inning.

 

Texas Wesleyan scored again in the sixth inning from a Joseph Lassiter RBI single to right center to cut into the Jaguar lead making it 5-2 HVU.

 

Justin Longoria homered to left field in the seventh to take it a 6-2 ball game.

 

The Rams could not procure any offense to overcome the deficit, falling 6-2 to Houston Victoria.

 

Colton Farrar (3-7) picks up the loss going 5.0 innings. He gave up four runs (two earned) on three walks and one strikeout.  

 

Lassiter led the Rams going 2 for 3 with one RBI in the loss. Winter went 1 for 2 for the Rams.

 

The Rams will host LSU-Shreveport in the regular season conference finale on April 22 starting at 4:00 p.m. at La Grave Field.
