OKLAHOMA CITY, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (8-13) was swept in a doubleheader at Oklahoma Christian University (19-6) on Saturday.  The Eagles took two narrow victories with scores of 3-1 and 7-5.

In game one, the Rams loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fourth, but OC’s Ashley Paxton got out of the jam with a popup and a fly ball.  In the bottom of the frame, the Eagles got RBI singles from Krystal Rodriguez and Courtney Starr to take a 2-0 advantage.

The following inning, Sarah Peoples singled, stole second and third, and scored on a double from Kayla Jennings to push the score to 3-0.

The Rams cut into the margin with a Christina Kelley home run in the sixth, but could get no closer.

Paxton (6-4) took the win after allowing one run on six hits in seven innings pitched.  Morgan Johnson was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

Kelley went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.

In game two, the Lady Rams struck first when Raven Moreno led off the contest with a walk and later scored on a single from Dakota Whittern.

Oklahoma Christian came right back in the bottom of the first with another RBI double from Jennings to tie the game at 1-1.  The Eagles later broke the game open with four runs on four hits and three Texas Wesleyan errors in the third inning.

The Rams did not go quietly however.  Moreno jacked a three-run homer in the fifth to bring Texas Wesleyan within a run at 5-4.

The Eagles added two important insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run homer from Kendra Pierce.  The Lady Rams loaded the bases with one out in the sixth.  Kali Jester plated one run with a sac fly.  With two down and the bases loaded once again, the Eagles went to Paxton out of the bullpen and she was able to get Moreno to popup for the final out of the inning.

Lindsy Moore improved to 8-0 on the year after allowing four runs, three earned on two hits in 4.1 innings.  Paxton picked up her third save of the year with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  Johnson (2-6) took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned on four hits in two innings pitched.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday when they host Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at Sycamore Park.
