SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (8-14, 6-1 RRAC) took their first conference loss of the season, falling to the Lady Saints of Our Lady of the Lake University 7-1 on Friday.
The Saints wasted no time taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a pair of RBI hits.
OLLU took a 3-0 lead in the third inning with a successful first and third double steal play.
The Lady Rams got on the board in a wild fourth inning. Makelle Akin reached on a wild throw by the shortstop. A passed ball put Akin on third, and a Christina Kelley bunt for a base hit made it a 3-1 ball game.
The Lady Saints pulled away with two runs in the fourth and sixth to top the Rams 7-1.
The Lady Rams gave up 13 hits leading to the lopsided score. The Saints were able to hold off a comeback despite multiple passed balls and errors.
Ashleigh Jiminez went 2 for 3 in the loss. Akin went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Kelley drove in the only run for Wesleyan.
The Lady Rams continue the series with OLLU tomorrow with a double header starting at noon in San Antonio.
