FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (11-16, 9-3 RRAC) completed a three-game Red River Athletic Conference series sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (1-14, 0-12) with a 9-0 win on Tuesday.  Texas Wesleyan’s Alexis Beltran and Taylor Hodge combined to hold the Lions to just two hits in the series.
 
The Lady Rams got on the board in the second inning when Marissa Rangel reached on a leadoff walk and later scored on a single from Beltran.
 
Beltran picked up right where she left off yesterday, allowing just a first inning walk.  With one out in the third, the Lions finally got their first hit off of Beltran in 7.1 innings when Lauren Johnson ripped a single to shallow left.
 
A SAGU error opened the door for a big inning in the third.  Hopie Perez tagged a bases-clearing double and then scored on a single from Raven Moreno during a five-run frame that extended Texas Wesleyan’s lead to 6-0.
 
Lindsay Cline touched off a three-run blast to straight away centerfield in the fourth that capped the scoring at 9-0.
 
Beltran (6-4) followed Monday’s no-hitter with a one-hit shutout, allowing just a hit and a walk while striking out eight.
 
Cline led the Rams at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
 
Texas Wesleyan will return to action this weekend when they travel to Muskogee, OK, for an RRAC series at Bacone College.  Friday’s opener is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start while Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.
