 FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (19-17, 17-4 RRAC) took the third game of the series against Northwood University (15-17, 11-7 RRAC) 9-5 completing the sweep of their cross town rival on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Lady Knights found a lead in the first inning on an Emily Imken two run home run to right center to take a 2-0 lead.
 
Not to be out done, the Lady Rams tied the game with a two run shot to left center from Marissa Rangel. Ashleigh Jiminez hit a shot in the gap for a single, and Lindsay Cline brought her home with a two run homer over the left center fence to take a 4-2 lead. Raven Moreno picked up an RBI walk to make it 5-2. Makelle Akin extended the lead with 2 RBI single down the left field line. After the dust settled Wesleyan put up seven runs including two home runs, on seven hits, and batted around to take a 7-2 lead after only one inning.
 
The Lady Knights made a run and loaded the bases in the third inning but were only able to get one run across on a Debi Risenhoover RBI single up the middle to make a 7-3 Wesleyan lead.
 
Christina Kelley put two more run on the board with a RBI single into left field to make it a 9-3 lead.
 
The Lady Knights caught a break in the fifth with a bases loaded walk to make it 9-4. Taylor Jones hit a RBI single into left field to cut the lead to 9-5 Lady Ram advantage.
 
Alexis Beltran (12-4) got the win. She tossed four innings gave up three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Taylor Hodge picked up her first save on the year with 2.2 innings pitched giving up one run on five hits.
 
Cline, Rangel, and Akin all finished with two RBI. Moreno went 2 for 3 with a RBi. Kelley went 4 for 4 with a RBI in the win.
 
The Lady Rams will host Huston-Tillotson and celebrate “Think Pink” Day on Saturday, April 21 with a game starting at 2:00 p.m.
