Lady Rams Go 2-1 At Cowtown Classic

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team went 2-1 on the day at the Cowtown Classic tournament. The Lady Rams topped Doane College (0-1) 8-0 in the first game, won 10-1 against Graceland University (1-1), and dropped the third game to Friends University (1-2) 5-2.
 
Both teams threatened in the first three innings putting runners in scoring position multiple times but the score remained deadlocked at 0-0.
 
Cheyenne Brown broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with a RBI single into shallow right center field that made it a1-0 game after four innings of play.
 
The Lady Rams blew the game open starting with an Ashley Seibel three RBI double to left center. Emily Burch hit another double that scored a run. Cheyenne Brown followed with a two-run home run to left center. A RBI double by Kendall Kizer made it an 8-0 lead and the mercy rule took effect for the Lady Rams to take the win.
 
Alexis Beltran (2-1) picked up the win. She tossed five scoreless innings, allowed only one hit on two walks and four strikeouts.
 
Brown went 2 for 3 with three RBI, and Seibel went 1 for 2 with three RBI.
 
In the game against Graceland, Kendall Kizer smashed a lead-off home run over the right field fence in the top of the first inning to make it a 1-0 Ram lead.
 
Texas Wesleyan went to work with a two out rally in the top of the third. Seibel hit a base hit into shallow right field good for two RBI. Brown lined a RBI double into right center for a RBI and a 4-0 lead.
 
The Lady Rams had another two out rally in the fourth, with three consecutive hits culminating in a Kali Jester three RBI home run over the left center fence.
 
The Lady Yellowjackets got a run back with a home run to left center to bring the score to 7-1 Ram lead.
 
Sara Sandercock walked home a run in the fifth, drawing a bases loaded walk to make it an 8-1 game.
 
Alexis Beltran made it a 9-1 Lady Ram lead in the sixth inning with a homer to left field. The Lady Rams finished the game in the sixth inning due to the mercy rule and came away with a 10-1 win.
 
Cheyenne Brown (2-1) got the win in six innings pitched. She only allowed one run, scattered nine hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
 
In the game with Friends University, Texas Wesleyan found the board early with a Sara Sandercock home run to left field.
 
The Lady Falcons came right back to tie it 1-1 in the bottom of the first, with a sacrifice fly to deep left field.
 
The score was deadlocked in a 1-1 tie until Friends had a three hit fourth inning capped by a Kelsey Walters RBI single to left center to take a 2-1 lead.
 
The Lady Rams tied the game in the fifth inning at 2-2 with a Kizer home run well over the left field fence.
 
Friends came right back in the bottom of the inning with two out again, this time with a home run to make it a 3-2 Lady Falcon lead.
 
Friends put two insurance runs up in the sixth with a Chelsey Farmer pinch hit blast over the center field wall to make it a 5-2 Falcon lead.
 
The Lady Rams threatened, but could not make any ground, dropping the contest 5-2.
 
Texas Wesleyan will take on Doane College in round one of the Cowtown Classic Tournament tomorrow.
