Lady Rams Take Split In Day Two Of Cowtown Classic

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (4-3) took a 6-2 win over Doane College (0-4) before dropping to Mid America Nazarene (4-3) 16-2 in day two of the Cowtown Classic at Gateway Park on Saturday.
 
The Lady Rams got the first fun of the game with a second inning Amber Tucker RBI single into shallow left center field to make it an early 1-0 lead.
 
Ashley Seibel made it a 2-0 game in the third inning with a RBI single to short stop after a Kali Jester sacrifice bunt moved a runner into scoring position. Emily Burch rocketed a ball to left field for a RBI double and a 3-0 Lady Ram lead. Chelsea Boles kept the streak going with a RBI single into shallow left center, and Chelsey Durbin hit another RBI single to left to extend the lead to 5-0 Texas Wesleyan in a big offensive inning.
 
Burch made the most of some Lady Tiger hardships, drawing a RBI walk in the fourth to lengthen the lead to 6-0 Lady Rams.
 
The Lady Tiger tried to get back into the game, but could only muster two runs as Wesleyan won the second take with Doane College.
 
In game two, Mid-America Nazarene caught the Lady Rams off guard. Four consecutive singles led to four runs in the top of the first inning.
 
The Lady Ram errors piled up in the second and the Lady Pioneer bats stayed hot with a three hit inning that helped score five runs making it a 9-0 game.
 
The Lady Pioneers tacked on two more runs in the third with a Lynsey Keith home run to extend the lead to 11-0.
 
The Lady Rams got on the board with a Kizer homer in the fourth inning to bring the score to 11-1.
 
Mid America Nazarene put up five more runs in the fourth to take a 16-1 lead.
 
Texas Wesleyan got a run in the bottom of the fourth with a Bailey Stokes RBI single for a 16-2 deficit.
 
The Lady Rams loaded the bases in the fifth, but could not make any headway dropping the game to the Lady Pioneers 16-2.
 
The Lady Rams will head to Conway, AR and play in the Central Baptist Tournament starting with a game against Columbia College starting at 4:00 PM.
