FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (10-15, 3-4 RRAC) fell 5-2 to Our Lady of the Lake University (20-7, 10-0 RRAC) at Sycamore Park on Friday.
The Lady Saints wasted no time in putting a runner in scoring position, with a lead-off single up the middle by Ashley Perez. Kim Briseno put down a full swing dribbler that hung on to stay just fair down the left field line for a base hit. Nadine Idrogo drove in a run on a single to left center, and Brittany Stone picked up a fielder’s choice RBI for an early 2-0 lead.
Ryler Moreno put up an insurance run in the fourth with a home run shot to center field for a 3-0 cushion.
Emily Burch got a runner in scoring position with a two out single down the left field line.
Sara Sandercock was hit by a pitch to load the bases to make way for
Ashley Seibel to put the Lady Rams within one at 3-2 with a two RBI bases loaded single to deep center field.
The Lady Saints extended the lead with a Maegan Ramirez RBI single up the middle for a 4-2 lead.
Our Lady of the Lake added a run in the seventh on a pair of Lady Ram errors to make it a 5-2 game.
Idrogo (13-1) added another win to her campaign in a complete game win. She gave up two runs on six hits on two walks and nine strikeouts.
Alexis Beltran (4-5) suffered the loss in 4.2 innings pitched. Beltran gave up four runs on nine hits, walked two, and striking out four.
The Lady Rams will finish the series with the Lady Saints with a double header tomorrow, starting at 12:00 pm at Sycamore Park.
