FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (21-20, 14-9 RRAC) earned a 7-6 comeback win in game on and landed a 9-6 win in game two to win the series against a solid Bacone College (17-22, 15-8 RRAC) at Sycamore Park on Saturday.
The Rams got on top of the Lady Warriors in the first inning on
Emily Burch and
Sara Sandercock RBI singles and a Bacone error for a 3-0 lead.
Bacone got a run back with a Tarah Moutray RBI single to make it a 3-1 game.
Krissy Froelich brought the Lady Warriors within one at 3-2 with a RBI single in the fifth inning. Moutray gave Bacone the lead with a two RBI single for a 4-3 advantage.
Meagen Alvarez tied the game up with a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Moutray once again gave the Warriors the lead, this time with a sacrifice fly to center field to break the tie with a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Not to be out done, the Lady Rams went on rally led by a two RBI double by Alvarez, and
Kendall Kizer hit a walk-off RBI single to lift the Lady Rams to a 7-6 victory.
In the second game, the Lady Rams struck first in a big way; with a Kizer grand slam that gave Wesleyan a 4-0 lead after two innings.
The Lady Warriors rallied in the fourth to comeback. None other than Moutray led the attack with a two run homerun. Lucy Walter hit a homer, and Lauren Peraza hit a RBI single to cap a four run, five hit inning to tie the game.
Sandercock broke the tie in the bottom half of the fifth with a RBI single for a 5-4 lead.
The Lady Rams took advantage of some Lady Warrior errors in the sixth inning, that started with back to back single from Kizer and
Amber Tucker. Three Bacone miscues led to four runs on two hits to give the Rams a 9-4 lead in the late goings.
The Lady Warriors fought back in the seventh with a pair of solo home runs, but the Lady Rams snuff out the rally with a 643 ground ball double play to double dip Bacone with a 9-6 game two win.
The Lady Rams celebrate senior day to wrap up the series with the Lady Warriors tomorrow, April 21 starting at noon.
