Rams Roll To Semis With 15-7 Win

Box Score

SHREVEPORT, LA: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (39-14) remains the only unbeaten team in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament with a 15-7 round two win over Jarvis Christian College (32-23) at Pilot Field on Sunday night.

After the close 8-7 win in ten innings over the host team LSU-Shreveport yesterday, Texas Wesleyan came back today with a vengeance against Jarvis Christian, who pulled out a 7-5 upset over Bacone College in the first round.

The Rams exploded for five runs in the top of the first inning. Brian White started the rally with a sacrifice fly to deep right field. Joel Rickman hit a RBI single to left center. Dusty Harper hit a RBI single to right, and Dakota Lee singled to right center to score two. The Rams chased the starter out two-thirds of an inning, but the damage was done as Wesleyan grabbed a 5-0 lead.

Tommy Muhlethaler made it a 5-1 game with a RBI single to right.

Texas Wesleyan added a pair in the second inning with a RBI single by Rickman, and Ramser Munoz RBI single to left for a 7-1 lead.

Trevor Moon hit his second triple of the tournament and scored on a wild pitch for an 8-1 lead.

The two teams traded big run innings as Jarvis grabbed two in the fourth, three in the fifth, but the Rams matched that with a four run fifth and a two run sixth to keep a healthy lead and eliminate any chance of a Bulldog comeback.

White and  Lee led the Rams going 2 for 4 with two RBI apiece. David Kiriakos went 3 for 3 with two runs scored.

The Rams will take on the winner of the Northwood and Jarvis Christian game tomorrow at 6:30 pm. Northwood and Jarvis Christian will play at 11:30 am, and Texas College plays LSU-S at 3:00 pm.
