Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AUSTIN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (9-8) double dipped Huston-Tillotson University (2-12), 7-0 in game one and 12-1 in game two at HTU Lady Ram Field on Wednesday.

The Lady Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Meagen Alvarez reached base on an error and stole second to make way for a Chelsea Anderson RBI single.

Huston-Tillotson kept Wesleyan at bay until the Lady Rams sparked a six run sixth inning rally. Lauren Davis started the run with a RBI single. Morgan Johnson tripled to pick up a RBI, before Alvarez scored two more runs with a one out single. Alvarez notched her second stolen base before she scored on a Huston-Tillotson mishap.  Amber Tucker and Kendall Kizer executed a successful first and third double steal to take a 7-0 lead.

Amber Marlett(4-1) shut down the HTU Lady Rams in the final two innings to take the shutout win. Marlett gave up only three hits, adding no walks and an impressive 10 strikeouts.

Davis went 1 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. Alvarez went 1 for 4 with two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases against her former club.

Texas Wesleyan poured on the offense in the second game, starting with a three run first inning. The Lady Rams loaded the bases for a bases clearing triple from Kali Jester to take a 3-0 lead.

The Rams score five runs in the third inning, starting with a Kizer homer to lead things off. Johnson chimed in with a three-run home run later in the inning. Alvarez added another RBI single for an 8-0 advantage.

Ashley Seibel made the most of a pinch hit opportunity in the fourth inning with a two RBI double, making it a 10-0 ball game.  Kylie Sumners hit a RBI single to stretch the lead to 11-0.

Huston-Tillotson finally got on the board in the fourth inning. A pair of single to lead off the inning put a runner in scoring position for a Zoe Castillo RBI single, but that would be all Texas Wesleyan would allow.

Jester added one more run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly RBI for a 12-1 lead, and the Lady went three up- three down in the bottom half of the inning to bring the mercy rule in effect.

Amanda Windham (3-4) tossed five innings in the win. She gave up one run on five hits, with no walks and no strikeouts.

Jester went 1 for 2 with four RBI. Johnson went 2 for 3 with three RBI. Seibel went 1 for 1 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

The Lady Rams will visit San Antonio, TX to take on another nonconference foe in Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday, March 15. That double header is set for a 1:00 pm first pitch.
