SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (10-9) defeated Our Lady of the Lake University (13-5) with an 8-3 blowout before dropping game two in a 4-3 thriller on Saturday.
The Lady Rams took the lead in the top of the second inning when a pair of base hits from

Amber Marlett set up a
Morgan Johnson single to short. Anderson scored on the play after a Lady Saint error.
Lauren Davis hit a sacrifice fly to left field, before
Raven Moreno knocked a base hit into left and Johnson scored on another Saint mishap for a 3-0 lead.
The Saints cut the lead to one with a two-run fourth inning. Amanda Hinojosa doubled to shallow left-center to set up a Danielle Aguilar two-run home run to make it a 3-2 game.
The Lady Rams added a run in the fifth inning on an
Amber Tucker solo homer over the left field fence to keep the Rams up 4-2
Our Lady of the Lake cut the lead again in the sixth with a Larissa Gutierrez home run shot to center field, making it a 4-3 ball game.
Texas Wesleyan all but ended things in the top of the seventh with a four run rally. Tucker earned a walk and stole second before Anderson also made her way on base with a walk.
Kali Jester then booted a softball over the left field fence for a three run shot. Johnson placed a two out single to left to make way for a Davis RBI double that beat the centerfielder to post an 8-3 lead.
The Lady Rams stifled the Saints in the home half of the inning to take the 8-3 game one win. Marlett (5-1) went the distance for the win. She allowed three runs, scattered nine hits, walked none with three strikeouts. Davis went 2 for 2 with a pair of RBI. Jester went 1 for 3 with three RBI.
In game two, the previous Red River Conference rivals got into a good old fashioned nail-biter. In the first five innings, a pitching duel ensued. Johnson and Katrisha Arocha both started out with a strong showing. Johnson went six innings without giving up a run.
Arocha, who leads the RRAC in strikeouts, sat down seven Lady Rams on strikes before Wesleyan finally broke the shutout in the sixth. The Lady Rams opened the inning with a Tucker base on balls. Anderson found pay dirt with a RBI single to center. Jester followed that up with a RBI single in the right-center gap for a 2-0 cushion.
Moreno gave Texas Wesleyan a 3-0 advantage in the seventh inning with a solo shot that cleared the center field fence.
The Lady Saints defended their turf in the bottom half of the final inning with four run rally. Gutierrez started the inning off with a single to left-center. The Wesleyan defense got two out before a walk and a Brittany Stone two RBI double in the right-center gap. Ashley Perez tied the game with a RBI single to right field. Elizabeth Rodriguez reached base on what should have been a ground out, but a Lady Ram error allowed the inning to continue. A passed ball sent Rodriguez to third before a Megan Perez hit a walk-off single to take a 4-3 win.
Moreno and Anderson both went 1 for 2 with a RBI and a run scored.
The Lady Rams will continue conference play with a double header at Oklahoma City University on Friday, March 28. First pitch is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start at Ann Lacy Stadium.
