Lady Rams Upset #2 Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (13-10, 7-3 SAC) blasted #2 Oklahoma City University (28-6, 11-3 SAC) 9-0 in game one of a double header before the Stars took the night cap 8-0 at Ann Lacy Stadium on Friday night.
 
The Lady Rams took advantage of a pair of errors in the top of the first inning. Amber Tucker blasted a double down the left field line before Kendall Kizer reached first base on an error by Jocelin Diaz. Amber Marlett also reached on a dropped fly ball by Jamie Rateliff, and Tucker scored on the error to give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.
 
Texas Wesleyan added three more runs in the top of the second. Morgan Johnson drew a walk to start the inning. Meagan Alvarez hit a two out single to left to set up a Tucker three run slam over the left field wall to make it a 4-0 advantage.
 
The Lady Rams tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning. Kizer shot a single up the middle to lead off. Dani West came in to pinch run and wasted no time, swiping second base. Chelsea Anderson drew a walk. Kali Jester reached first on a fielder's choice play that ended in all runners safe to load the bases. Morgan Johnson picked up a RBI on a sacrifice fly to left, scoring West on the play. Lauren Davis tagged a ball into center field for a pair of RBI and the Lady Rams grabbed a 7-0 lead.
 
Wesleyan added two more runs in the sixth on another Oklahoma City error to take a 9-0 game one win after six innings.
 
Tucker led the Rams going 2 for 4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Marlett stifled the Stars in six shutout innings to improve to 7-1 on the year. She scattered three hits, allowed one walk, while striking out two.
 
Kylee Rounsaville gave the Stars their first lead of the night in the first inning of game two on a RBI single up the middle for a 1-0 lead.
 
Kyndra Holasek added two more runs in the bottom of the second on a two out single into center field, bringing the score to 3-0 Oklahoma City.
 
Kizer broke up the no-hitter in the fourth with a single through the left side, but the Lady Rams could not build any momentum.
 
The Stars would score a run off of a solo homer from Holasek in the fourth, and two more runs in the sixth to take an 8-0 game two win.
 
Tucker stayed consistent going 1 for 3 with a double. Kizer went 1 for 3. Davis went 1 for 2.
 
The Lady Rams will take a short drive over to Bethany, OK to play a double header with Southwestern Christian University.  Game one is set for a noon start.
