Box Score 2 FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (21-18, 14-12 SAC) lost a pair of games (3-1, 4-2) against the University of Science and Arts (31-19, 13-11) on Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Sycamore Park on Friday.
Texas Wesleyan sported their neon pink jerseys with Ram blue lettering in honor of breast cancer awareness, and all of the proceeds of the Lady Ram concession stand earned today will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research
The Drovers picked up three of runs in the second inning, one on a Lady Ram error, and two more on back-to-back RBI singles to take a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Rams took advantage of a USAO error in the fourth.
Lauren Davis led the inning off with a double through the left side.
Kali Jester hit a fly out deep to center, Davis tagged on the play, and a misplayed ball allowed her to score to make it 3-1 ball game.
The Lady Rams played scoreless ball from there, and the Drovers secured the game one win. Brooke McCleod (7-5) earned the win in 2.2 innings of work.
Amanda Windham (5-7) was tagged with the loss, despite pitching a solid game. She threw all seven innings, gave up seven hits on three runs, none earned, with four walks and three strikeouts.
Raven Moreno went 2 for 3.
Amber Tucker and
Kendall Kizer went 2 for 4 in the loss.
The two teams went two scoreless inning in game two, with both defenses playing solid ball to start the game.
The Drovers broke the scoreless tie in the third with three straight singles, the last of which culminated in a RBI base hit through the middle by Dani Warren. A second run scored on a wild pitch to give USAO a 2-0 advantage.
The Lady Rams tied the ball game with an exclamation point in the fourth inning.
Chelsea Anderson knocked a high fly ball over the center field fence before Davis crushed one to left center in the next at bat, knotting things up at 2-2.
The Drovers added a run in the fourth and seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead heading into the home half of the final inning. The Lady Rams could not get a comeback started, and dropped the second game.
Meagen Alvarez led the Lady Rams going 2 for 3. Davis and Anderson both went 1 for 3 with a home run.
Texas Wesleyan will take on Mid-America Christian University tomorrow in a double header starting at noon.
