Box Score 2 SHAWNEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (24-21, 15-14SAC) suffered a pair of losses to #15 Oklahoma Baptist University (36-14, 21-6SAC) on Friday. The Lady Bison won game one 5-4, before taking the night cap 8-0 at Lady Bison Park.
In game one, the Lady Bison got on the board in the first after a Wesleyan error led to an unearned run for a 1-0 score.
A pitching duel ensued, as each team could only muster one hit apiece through five innings, the Rams lone hit came on a Kendall Kizer single to right in the first inning.
Amber Marlett helped herself out in the top of the seventh inning, going yard over the center field fence to tie the game at 1-1. Texas Wesleyan took the lead later in the inning after a single by
Ashley Seibel and a few walks including a
Dani West RBI base on balls to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Bison dug their hole deeper, after Kizer reached on an errant throw that scored two more for a 4-1 advantage.
Oklahoma Baptist University made a comeback and scored four runs in bottom of the seventh on the way to a 5-4 win in walk-off fashion.
Marlett (14-4) took the loss. She pitched six innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Lady Bison started game two with a bang, posting a five run rally to take an early commanding lead.
Raven Moreno broke up the perfect game in the fourth inning with a single to left field, but Oklahoma Baptist picked up a pair of runs in the second and another in the third to take an 8-0 win in five innings.
The Lady Rams will take a quick trip over to St. Gregory's University for the regular season finale tomorrow starting at noon.
