Box Score 2 SHAWNEE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (24-23, 15-17SAC) dropped two games by scores of 9-2 and 4-0 to seventh rankedd St. Gregory's University (46-8, 27-5SAC) at SGU softball field on Saturday.
In game one, the Cavaliers scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and another in the second inning to take a 3-0 advantage early.
The Lady Rams fought back in the fourth inning, starting with a Cav error that allowed
Meagen Alvarez to reach base.
Chelsea Anderson hit a RBI single later in the inning to get the Wesleyan on the board, and
Amber Marlett knocked in another run with a base knock to make it a 3-2 game.
St. Gregory's put up a run in the bottom of the fourth after a Lady Ram error led to a Melanie Gladden RBI single to give the Cavaliers the lead by a 4-2 margin.
St. Greg's scored in each of the last three innings to secure a 9-2 game one win. Marlett (14-5) suffered the loss. She threw six innings, gave up nine runs, four earned, walked two and tallied three strikeouts.
Marlett and Anderson each went 1 for 3 with a RBI.
Ashley Seibel went 1 for 3, while
Raven Moreno went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
In game two, the Cavs took 3-0 lead on four consecutive singles and a groundout RBI in the second inning.
The Lady Rams consistently got ahold of pitches, but when they did, they just happened to be right at the Lady Cavalier defense, The Rams were doubled off twice on line drive hits, that if were five feet to the left or right, would have scored runs. Texas Wesleyan could not get anything rolling, falling 4-0 in game two.
Amanda Windham (6-8) tossed six innings in the loss. She gave up just three earned runs on eight hits, to go along with one walk and two strikeouts.
Marlett (1 for 2), Kizer (1 for 3), and
Lauren Davis (1 for 3) made up the three hits for the Lady Rams.
The Lady Rams will gear up for the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament starting on May 1 through May 3 hosted by Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, OK.
