Lady Rams Primed for SAC Tournament

FORT WORTH, TX:  The seeding and schedule has been set for the Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.  Texas Wesleyan will enter as the fifth seed with the action beginning on Thursday.

The format will be unfamiliar to Rams fans who are used to the double elimination tournament they have seen previously in the Red River Athletic Conference.  The SAC format is pool play followed by a single championship game.  Pool A features seeds 1, 3, 5, and 8 at Oklahoma City University.  Pool B features seeds 2, 4, 6, and 7 and will be played out at Oklahoma Baptist University (Shawnee, OK).  Saturday's Championship match will be hosted by OCU.

The Lady Rams kick off the Pool A action at third seeded OCU at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.  They will then face No. 1 St. Gregory's at 6:30 p.m.  On Friday, the Rams will play No. 8 Southwestern Christian at 1:00 p.m.

The winner of each pool will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in a winner-take-all championship game.  Ties will be broken by head-to-head results.  In case of a three-way tie in pool play, run differential will be the deciding factor.

The Lady Rams are 24-23 overall, while notching a 15-17 mark in conference play.  St. Gregory's won the regular season SAC title by one game over Oklahoma Baptist.  The Cavs are ranked sixth nationally with an overall record of 46-8.  Oklahoma City is ranked 17th nationally at 45-11.  Southwestern Christian is unranked at 15-34 overall.

Against their Pool A competition, the Rams went 6-6 during the regular season.  They notched an 8-0 victory at Oklahoma City and a 3-0 win over St. Gregory's.  They also had narrow one-run losses to both of those teams.
