Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (18-13, 11-7 SAC) took a 2-1 loss before winning an 8-7 shootout against Mid-America Christian University (25-13, 9-7 SAC) at Jack Allen Field on Saturday.

The Evangels grabbed an early 1-0 lead to start the first game on a Hannah Lynch home run to center.

Scoring was put to a halt for the next five innings, as Amber Marlett and Amber Tinney entered into a pitching duel.

Lauren Davis went clutch in the seventh with a home run over the center field fence, tying the game at 1-1.

Katie Gracey and the Evangels defended home field in the seventh, on a walk-off single into right field for the 2-1 win.

Davis went 1 for 2 with a RBI and a run scored. Marlett (10-2) suffered the loss, but was solid. She went 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits while walking on and striking out nine.

The second game could not have been any more different than the first, with the Evangels and Lady Rams competing in shootout.

Lynch hit a RBI single to center to score Ashley Sanford from second, grabbing another early 1-0 lead for the Evangels.

Chelsea Anderson and the Lady Rams answered to tie the game in the third. Amber Tucker drew a two out walk before Anderson knocked a RBI double into center as Tucker sprinted around the bases to score from first.

Texas Wesleyan opened it up in the fourth inning with a five run rally. Marlett led off the inning with a single to left field. A Kylie Sumners single and a Raven Moreno bunt single loaded the bases. Dani West slapped a RBI single into right. Meagen Alvarez pierced a double to left, scoring two more. The Evangels made a pitching change, but that did not bother Wesleyan. Anderson hit a two RBI single left field, and the Lady Rams jumped out to a 6-1 lead.

The Evangels came right back to tie the game at 6-6 with their own five run rally. A few Lady Ram errors contributed to the MACU rally.

The two teams took the 6-6 tie to extra innings after playing without a score in the final three innings. Davis, who was the last out in the seventh, was placed on second with Marlett at the plate to start the eighth. The Wesleyan ace helped her own cause with a lead-off RBI double to right field to finally break the tie. Ashley Seibel produced a RBI double to center to add an insurance run that turned out to be the biggest hit of the series, giving the Rams an 8-6 lead with the home half of the inning to go.

Carson Osbourne led off the bottom of the eighth with a single, but was thrown out at second by Davis, trying to advance on the throw from Alvarez that kept Katie Gracey from scoring. Taryn Callender hit a RBI groundout to make it 8-7, but Marlett got a popout in the next batter that Seibel handled easily for the win.

Anderson went 2 for 4 with three RBI. Marlett went 2 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. Alvarez went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Seibel went 2 for 4 with the game winning RBI.

The Lady Rams will host Oklahoma Baptist on Friday, April 11. Game one of the double header is set for a 5:00 pm start at Sycamore Park.
