GRAND PRAIRIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (17-14, 7-4 SAC) swept a Sooner Athletic Conference Doubleheader from Bacone College (2-20, 1-10 SAC) at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie on Friday. The Rams took game one 3-0 and then rallied for a 7-4 win in game two.
Zach Aitken and
Jake Davis carried the load for the Rams in game one.
Aitken (3-3) needed just 75 pitches to toss all seven innings. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five.
Meanwhile, Davis handled the offense by going 2-for-3 and knocking in all three Texas Wesleyan runs. Davis had a two-out RBI single in the second inning. After doubles from
James Ziegler and
Jonathan Bravo in the fourth inning, Davis delivered an RBI groundout. In the sixth, Davis gave Aitken some breathing room with a two-out solo bomb.
In game two, the Warriors jumped ahead by scoring two runs on one hit, two walks and a hit batter in the first inning. RBI singles from Michael Luciano and Dario Gonzalez in the second pushed the BC advantage to 4-0.
Ryan Chen entered the game in relief for the Rams in the third inning and did not allow a hit for the remainder of the game.
In the third inning,
Garrett Crook and
Ryan Adam drew back-to-back walks and
Blake Seaton delivered a two-run double.
Casey Moses walked, and two batters later,
Erick Quesada tied the game with a double of his own.
The Rams took advantage of a pair of Bacone errors in the fifth inning. A pinch-hit single from
James Ziegler scored two runs, and an RBI single from
Dylan Measells gave the Rams a 7-4 cushion.
Chen (1-2) allowed just a walk while striking out six in five innings of work.
Measells had two of Texas Wesleyan's six hits in the contest.
The Rams and Warriors will complete their three-game series on Saturday. That game is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie.
