OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (9-10, 0-1 SAC) took a 4-2 conference opener loss at Southwestern Christian (13-2, 1-0 SAC) on Friday.

The two teams played a scoreless four innings. Although the Eagles were held in check by Ram starter
Zach Aitken (1-3) over those four innings, Wesleyan had opportunities and left five runners on base.

The Eagles posted a one run fifth to take a 1-0 edge due to a Wesleyan error. Southwestern Christian had an important seventh inning after three hits capped by a Corey Cupp RBI double down the right field line to pad the lead at 4-1.

The Wesleyan Rams finally got on the board in the ninth.
James Ziegler singled to center field.
Hayden Muns posted a base hit to right field. An error allowed a run to score before a
Ryan Mendez base knock through the right side to cut the lead to 3-2. The Eagles stopped the rally though and SCU earned a 4-2 win.

Mendez went 1 for 3 with a RBI.
Jonathan Bravo and
Garrett Crook each went 1 for 3. Aitken threw eight innings, scattering seven hits, giving up four runs (three earned) to go with seven strikeouts.

The Rams will finish the series with the Eagles tomorrow in a double header starting at 12:00 pm.
