WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (1-2) dropped a 67-57 contest to (RV) LSU-Shreveport (6-0) at the SAGU Classic on Saturday.

TXWES shot 41 percent from the field, compared to 39 percent posted by the Pilots. The Lady Rams also outperformed the undefeated Pilots 30-23 in the paint, but TXWES had an uncharacteristic day shooting the three. LSU-S out shot Texas Wesleyan from behind the arc, 33 percent to 25 percent.

The Pilots maintained a healthy lead for most of the game, leading by as many as 21 in the third quarter, but the Lady Rams posted a late charge midway through the fourth. TXWES rattled off a 15-5 run capped on a
Tomi Sanchez jumper in the paint to cut the lead to 62-55. LSU-S held off the charge to seal the win.

For the Pilots, the 6-0 start is their best in program history.

Karah Sicurella led the Lady Rams with 15 points and three assists. Sanchez went 5-8 from the field for 12 points.
Nicole Gleason also finished with 12 points.
Evie Whorley added nine points in the effort, while
Lexi Burns led the team with six boards.

The Lady Rams will end their six-game road swing in Wichita Falls, TX against NCAA DII opponent Midwestern State University on Wednesday, November 15. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Â
