FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (7-17, 5-11 SAC) dropped a 73-70 nail-biter to Southwestern Assemblies of God University (12-12, 7-9 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Monday.

The Lady Rams led by as many as 12 points, but the Lions found an edge late and held off the home team to win their fourth straight.

Lorian Benjamin fed
Nicole Gleason who found the bottom of the net from downtown to cut a four-point SAGU lead to just one with two minutes left in the game. Benjamin nailed a fast-break layup while drawing the foul on the next possession, and completed a three-point play to give TXWES a 70-68 lead with 1:42 left on the clock.

SAGU went a 5-0 rally from there. Eva Atunuwa got a turn-around jumper from just inside the free throw line to fall to tie, and Kiarra Glenn scored on a put back floater to put the Lions up with 36 second left in the contest.

TXWES started their play with the game on the line, but the ball got loose and a diving
Karah Sicurella recovered the ball, but SAGU got hands on the ball and a jumpball was called. The Lady Rams retained possession with eight second on the shot clock. Head coach
Steve Trachier drew up a pick play for Gleason, who popped out on the perimeter, catching a long pass from
Lexi Burns. Gleason fired up a three ball that went in and out before the Lions came down with the rebound to seal the win.

Gleason paced the Rams with 25 points. Burns posted 15 points, five boards, and four assists in the loss.
Falesha Fuller tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. Benjamin added seven points and seven boards. Sicurella had a season high eight assists.

Texas Wesleyan will continue conference play in Muskogee, OK at Bacone College on Thursday, February 15. The Rams and Warriors get going at 6:00 p.m. in Palmer Center Gym. Â
