YORK, Neb. – The fourth-ranked Texas Wesleyan women's wrestling took five top 3 finishes at the York College Women's Open Tournament on Sunday. Madison Brown won the 101 division, while Jasmine Godinez won the 109 division.
 
11th ranked Brown topped fourth-ranked Alaina Sunlin (Iowa Wesleyan) in a 15-13 decision in the title match. She also earned a 10-0 tech fall and an 8-6 decision leading up to the first place bout.
 
Fifth-ranked Godinez ran through the 109 bracket with ease, earning a fall (1:58) in round two while notching three tech fall wins in the rest of her matches on the day, including an 11-0 win over 17th ranked Tiana Savino of Hastings.
 
In the 123 bracket, Devin Patton took third place with a 10-0 tech fall over Karoline Ortiz of Missouri Baptist. Patton earned two falls (0:45, 1:31) and a tech fall on the way to the third place finish.
 
Maryellen Lafferty placed fourth in the 136 bracket. Lafferty stacked three falls (0:20, 3:00, 4:14) on the way to the third place match. She fell by tech fall to 18th ranked Gianna Moreno in the final match of the day.
 
Aalyah Villareal earned a fall (2:29) in the opening round before falling in the next two rounds.
 
The Lady Rams will head to Oklahoma City to take on the Stars at Abe Lemons Arena on Wednesday. The dual is set for a 6 p.m. start.
