Box Score 2 FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan softball team (10-4, 4-0 SAC) defeated Central Christian College (4-11, 3-7) in both games of a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Sycamore Park. The Lady Rams defeated the Tigers 11-6 in game 1 and 9-1 in game 2.
In game 1, the Lady Rams offensive power propelled it to victory, and in game 2, TXWES used stellar defense, power at the plate, and dominant performances on the mound to lead the Lady Rams to victory.
In game 1, TXWES trailed 3-0 after the Tigers hit a three-run homerun in the top of the first inning. The Lady Rams separated itself on the scoreboard with a 4 run third inning. To start the inning,
Jaeley May earned a walk with the bases loaded to score
Mercedes Beltran.
Brynna Foster hit a single to shortstop that scored
Breanna Leathers. To cap off the scoring in the inning, Sandy Lopez blasted a double to right-center field to score
Jaeley May, and
Rhea-Ann Avalos. After three innings of play, the Lady Rams led 5-3.
The Tigers scored 3 runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to three runs. In the bottom half of the sixth inning
Brynna Foster blasted a double to left field to extend the Lady Rams lead to 11-6. Kaderka shut down Central Christian College in the seventh inning to seal an 11-6 victory.
Dylann Kaderka pitched 6.1 innings in relief, recording 9 strikeouts in 27 batters faced.Â
In game 2, TXWES started the scoring off with a two run homerun blast off the bat of
Rhea-Ann Avalos to take a 2-1 lead in the first inning. In the third inning,
Kylie Summers singled through the left side to score
Ajah Jackson and
Jaeley May recorded a sacrifice play to extend the Lady Rams lead to to 4-1 heading into the fourth inning.Â
The fifth inning started off with
Rhea-Ann Avalos blasting her second homerun of the game to extend the lead to 6-1.
Breanna Leathers singled up the middle to score
Ajah Jackson and
Kylie Summers to end the game in 6 innings.Â
Dylann Kaderka pitched 10.1 innings on the day and struck out a total of 14 batters.
Rhea-Ann Avalos went three for 6 with 4 RBI's and two homeruns. Kaderka improved her season record to 5-3.
Jaeley May and
Brynna Foster both recorded 3 RBI's. TXWES recorded 20 hits, 20 runs, and 19 RBI's in 53 at-bats on the day.
The Lady Rams have won 9 out of its last 10 games. TXWES will be back at Sycamore Park on Saturday, March 12 to finish off an SAC four game series against Central Christian College.
