FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (16-12, 4-5 SAC) defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State University (10-17, 2-4) 17-7 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the series at Sycamore Park.  

TXWES exploded offensively, scoring 17 runs on 18 hits. OPSU scored three runs in the opening inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Rams responded in the bottom of the second inning with three runs to tie the game. Manny Luna laced a ball up the middle for a single to score Marcos Sanchez and Jake Ervin. Chaesten Chon blasted a single to score Manny Luna to end the inning. Heading to the third inning, the game was knotted at 3. 

In the third inning, Carson Cheaney hit a double to score Marcos Sanchez to give the Rams a 4-3 lead. Manny Luna doubled down the left field line to score Cheaney to give TXWES a 5-3 lead heading into the fourth inning.  

The Rams were able to create separation on the scoreboard with a four run fourth inning led off with a double by Greyson Barrett to score Joseph Barfield. Marcos Sanchez smashed a home-run to left-center field to extend the TXWES lead to 9-3. In the fifth inning, the Rams gained two more runs on a single up the middle by Hayden Hutchins to extend its lead to 11-4. 

Head Coach Bobby Garza with his thoughts on the win, "We played well today. We had some players step up and contribute today. Manny Luna and Aidan Kenney had some really good at bats. Today was a good day to be a Ram," said Garza.

In the sixth inning, TXWES scored six runs to extend its lead to 17-5. The inning started with a single up the middle by Manny Luna to score Cheaney. Aiden Kenny recorded a sacrifice fly to score Manny Luna and Hayden Hutchins drew a walk to score Chaesten Chon to make the score 14-5. Joseph Barfield scored on a walk and Marcos Sanchez earned two RBI's on a single up the middle to cap off the 6 run inning for TXWES.  Morgan McCloud moves to 4-0 on the season after pitching four innings, giving up four runs, and eight hits. He also recorded six strikeouts.

The Rams held on in the top half of the seventh inning to run-rule OPSU 17-7. Marcos Sanchez had an outstanding performance at the plate with 3 hits and 5 RBI's in 4 at-bats. Manny Luna recorded 4 hits and 4 RBI's in four at-bats. Chaesten Chon recorded 3 hits and 1 RBI in four at-bats. 

TXWES will take on LSU Alexandria on Tuesday, March. 22 at 1 p.m.
