Box Score 2 FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (12-9, 1-2 SAC) split a DH against Southwestern Assemblies of God University (14-4, 2-1) on Saturday afternoon at Sycamore Park. TXWES suffered a 3-1 loss in game 1 and picked up a 5-4 win in game two on a walk-off double by
Hayden Hutchins.
SAGU scored all three of its runs in the first inning. An Alejandro Garcia triple scored Ben Bills and Cade Hendricks to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. SAGU went on to score on a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first inning.
TXWES was shutout on the scoreboard and did not record a hit through 5 innings.
Trey Erwin ended the no-hitter in the sixth inning with a double to right field.
Matt Espinosa fouled off several pitches and worked the count to earn a walk.
Hayden Hutchins recorded an RBI on a groundout to second base for its loan run of the game.Â
After giving up three runs in the first innig,
Ian Landreneau dominated on the mound not allowing a run for the rest of the game. Landreneau pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 runs and 7 hits in 29 batters faced.
Trey Erwin recorded the only hit of the game for the Rams. The TXWES comeback attempt fell short as the Lions won 3-1.
In game 2, TXWES scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

SAGU scored its first run of the game on a wild pitch. The Lions rallied back in the 5th inning, scoring three runs to take a 4-3 lead. The Lions were able to hold on to a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.Â
The Rams continued to battle back as
Joseph Barfield singled to left center to score
Marcos Sanchez to tie the game. With the winning run on base,
Hayden Hutchins stepped up to the plate and smashed a double down the left field line to give the Rams a 5-4 walk-off win against SAGU.
Head Coach
Bobby Garza gave credit to his pitchers for keeping them in games. "Our pitchers competed really well today. All of them gave us a chance to win. That's all we can ask for is to have a staff compete on the mound and keep us in the game."
Garrett Bodine struck out four batters in three innings and gave up an earned run.
Justin Ward improved his season record to 2-0. He pitched two innings, giving up no runs, no hits, and striking out 1 batter.
TXWES will travel to Mcpherson, Kansas to take on Central Christian College on Friday, March 11, and Saturday March 12 in a three-game series.
