OKLAHOMA CITY-- The Sooner Athletic Conference announced its 2022 Softball All-Conference team Tuesday afternoon . Alyssa Bates received the Gold Glove honor while senior pitcher Bynna Foster and sophomore outfielder Izzy Valenzuela both received an honorable mention.
Bates, the junior from Corsicana, Texas started in all 32 games averaging a hitting percentage of .243, adding 27 hits with 15 runs. In the outfield Bates had an impressive .997 average with 81 putouts on 86 chances. Sophomore Izzy Valenzuela finished her season leasing the team with a batting average of .311%. Starting in all games this season she garnered 8 homers and 27 RBIs. Senior Brynna Foster led the on the mound with a 113 strikeouts and 3.41 ERA average . Foster posted 4 shutout wins on the season with a 1.49 whip average.
During the 2023 season, the Lady Rams posted a 11-32 record, going 9-32 in conference play. The Lady Rams managed to make it to psot season play where they fell short of capturing the SAC tounrament trophy in the opening round.
Voted upon by the league's coaches, 20 players from the nine-team league are placed on First Team, 20 on Second Team and 17 garner honorable mention while nine players, one from each team, earn a Gold Glove honor.
