MT&F: Pearl City Hawaii Standout Marcus Rodriguez Signs with TXWES Track and Field

Head Coach Randy Dalzell announced the signing of outstanding men's 400m runner Marcus Rodriguez of Pearl City High School in Pearl City, HI. Rodriquez is one of Hawaii's top 400m runners, with a personal best of 49.83 seconds going into this coming week's state championships.

So far this season, he has gone undefeated in the 400m, winning every race, including the Coach George Yamamoto Invitational, the OIA Western Divisional Championships, and the OIA Regional Championships. He will study Pre-Med and is planning to attend medical school to become a Radiologist after his undergraduate program.

"We are very excited to add Marcus to our men's team! He is an outstanding young man with a great academic background to go with his fine-running talent. He is a high-performing and highly focused student-athlete with great career goals. He will fit in great with our group of men's sprinters and contribute to a number of events during the indoor and outdoor track seasons, " said Dalzell.

The TXWES men's track and field team is fresh off of winning their first SAC Conference Championships and is gearing up for the NAIA National meet at the end of May. They will have athletes competing this week at the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, and at the Tom Tellez Invitational at the University of Houston.

"Now that we have finished our conference meet, we can take a small number of our athletes to come high-level qualifying meets, which can help us get some more national qualifying marks or get improved national rankings for our already qualified athletes," said Dalzell.
