T&F: Texas Wesleyan Track and Field Shines at SAC Championships

FORT WORTH  – The Texas Wesleyan University track and field teams turned in outstanding performances at the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Outdoor Championships, with multiple podium finishes across various events.

Men's Highlights

The men's squad had several standout performances, particularly in sprints and jumps. Camden Martin earned a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.47 seconds, while Mark Benjamin placed sixth at 10.73 seconds. Benjamin also claimed second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.20 seconds, while teammate Benjamin Perin finished sixth at 21.58 seconds. Tyrece Grant dominated the 400-meter dash, clinching the title with a time of 46.77 seconds.

In the hurdles, Trishtan Willis claimed the 110-meter hurdles crown with a time of 14.92 seconds, while Cason Rogers placed third in the same event with a time of 15.32 seconds. Willis also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, securing sixth with a time of 58.90 seconds.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Martin, Perin, Benjamin, and Grant excelled, capturing first place with a time of 40.19 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Martin, Ras Ford, Rhett Williams, and Grant earned third place with a time of 3:22.46, while the 4x800-meter relay team of Enrique Cabrera, Jose Hernandez, Roberto James, and Jovanni Rosas finished eighth with a time of 8:54.19.

In the field events, Joshua Morris won the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.81 meters, while Martin placed second in the long jump with a leap of 7.30 meters. Quentin Fankhouser finished eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.67 meters. In the pole vault, Aiden Garza placed third with a clearance of 4.06 meters.

The throwing events saw Ogdon Morrison take second in the shot put with a throw of 14.14 meters and second in the discus with a mark of 43.80 meters. Wilbert Martin finished fourth in both events, with a throw of 13.35 meters in the shot put and 43.80 meters in the discus. Morrison also placed sixth in the discus at 39.82 meters. In the javelin, Demond Noelien placed fifth with a throw of 46.32 meters.

In the distance running, Jovanni Rosas placed third in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:15.30. Fankhouser also shined in the decathlon, finishing third with 5,110 points.

Women's Highlights

The women's team showcased strength in sprints, jumps, and hurdles. Kayla Wildy led the way, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.24 seconds and finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash at 25.22 seconds. Aniyah Clariett added a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.78.

In the jumping events, Kenna Conner captured first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds, and Giani Wimbish-Gay earned first place in the high jump with a height of 1.57 meters. Conner also led the long jump, securing first with a mark of 5.34 meters. Allyson Kolba finished fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 2.20 meters.

In throwing, Scooby Davis placed eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 20.77 meters.

In distance events, Juliana Molina placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:41.93 and seventh in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:07.70. Madison Blanch finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.82. Haylee Bentley placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 16:06.71.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished in fourth place.

Overall, the women's team tied for 6th place with 76 points, alongside Wayland Baptist, while John Brown University claimed the top spot with 109 points. Oklahoma City finished just behind in second with 108 points, and Langston rounded out the top three with 106 points.

On the men's side, Texas Wesleyan finished in a strong second place with 147 points, narrowly trailing Wayland Baptist, who took the top position with 152 points. Nelson University secured third place with 134 points, while Langston finished fourth with 88 points.
