KANSAS CITY — Texas Wesleyan kicker
Freddy Joya earned NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week honors after a perfect performance in a 46-12 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Joya went 5-for-5 on field goals, including a long of 39 yards and makes from 16, 20, 34 and 38 yards. He also converted all four point-after attempts for 19 points in Saturday's win.
The award, announced Monday, marks Joya's second of the season after he claimed the same recognition Oct. 13.
Texas Wesleyan hosts OUAZ (Ariz.) on Saturday in a key Sooner Athletic Conference match-up and NAIA-UEN Featured Game. Kickoff is 2 p.m. at Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium in Fort Worth.
