WGOLF: Texas Wesleyan’s Makena Junkin, Salome Arango Earn WGCA NAIA All-America Honors

CORAL SPRINGS - Texas Wesleyan University golfers Makena Junkin and Salome Arango were honored Monday as part of the Women's Golf Coaches Association's 2024-25 NAIA All-America teams, recognizing the top performers across women's collegiate golf.

Junkin, a sophomore from Burleson, was named to the WGCA All-America Second Team after a strong season that included multiple top-10 finishes and helping lead the Lady Rams to another national championship appearance. 

Arango, a senior from Colombia, earned Honorable Mention honors following a consistent year highlighted by her leadership and clutch play throughout the season.

The announcement was part of the WGCA's annual awards release, which includes honors for the top student-athletes, coaches, and newcomers in NAIA women's golf, with more than 20 players from across the country recognized on the All-America teams.

In other major award announcements, Lindsey Wilson's Butpapaporn Sukterm was named the NAIA PING WGCA Player of the Year, while Sophia Sindersberger of Keiser University took home Freshman of the Year honors. Brandon Miller, head coach of Keiser, was named the WGCA National Coach of the Year, and Audrey Grace Holder of Truett McConnell received the Kim Moore Spirit Award for her perseverance and leadership.
