FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University is proud to announce the hiring of Wade Morgan as the new head coach for the men's and women's tennis programs.
Â
A nationally recognized leader in collegiate tennis, Morgan brings with him a winning pedigree, a record of academic and athletic excellence, and more than a decade of successful coaching experience at both the NCAA Division II and Division III levels.
Â
"We are thrilled to welcome Wade Morgan as the new head tennis coach at Texas Wesleyan University. His passion for the game, proven leadership, and commitment to developing student-athletes make him the perfect fit to elevate our program to new heights," Athletic Director Ricky Dotson said. "Wade had remarkable success at Dallas Baptist University, and I expect that to continue here. His connection to the DFW tennis community and proven ability to build winning programs make him an invaluable addition to Texas Wesleyan University."
Â
Morgan arrives in Fort Worth after eight standout seasons at Dallas Baptist University, where he built one of the premier women's tennis programs in NCAA Division II. During his time at DBU, Morgan compiled an impressive 231 wins, leading the Patriots to eight consecutive winning seasons, multiple NCAA Regional appearances, and national prominence.
Â
In 2025 alone, Morgan was named the ITA Division II National Women's Coach of the Year after guiding DBU to the first Lone Star Conference Championship, the first South Central Regional Championship, and a historic NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. That same season, the program achieved its highest national ranking at No. 11. He also earned his second straight ITA South Central Region Coach of the Year honor.
Â
Morgan's student-athletes have thrived both on and off the court, with two NCAA All-Americans, 36 All-Conference selections, and eight ITA All-Scholar Academic Teams under his leadership. His teams earned three consecutive ITA South Central Region Community Service Awards (2022–2024), demonstrating a commitment to holistic development and community impact.
Â
In 2018, Morgan led DBU to an NCCAA National Championship, earning NCCAA Women's Coach of the Year honors. He also helped the men's program to its best-ever season and national recognition, including its first singles national ranking.
Â
Before his success at DBU, Morgan served as the head coach at Schreiner University from 2011 to 2018. There, he guided both the men's and women's programs to new competitive heights, including multiple postseason wins, national rankings, and 120 combined victories. He was named the SCAC Women's Coach of the Year in 2014 and coached more than 60 student-athletes to all-conference or academic honors.
Â
Morgan assumes leadership of the Texas Wesleyan tennis program, a team with a proud tradition and a promising future. His demonstrated success in developing competitive, academically focused programs is anticipated to enhance the Rams' presence on both the regional and national levels.
Â
"I would like to thank Ricky Dotson and the search committee for the opportunity to lead the men and women of Texas Wesleyan," Morgan said. "I am very excited to dive right in and get to work. TWU has a rich tennis history, and I look forward to reaching new heights in the coming years with these programs. Let's go Rams!"
