TEN: Texas Wesleyan Tennis Triumphs in Abilene, Sets Sights on ITA Regionals

ABILENE — The Texas Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams delivered strong performances at a hidden dual event in Abilene, Texas, competing against Hardin-Simmons University and Western New Mexico University.

The men's team secured five of eight singles matches and three of four doubles matches against Hardin-Simmons. Against Western New Mexico, they excelled with four of six singles wins but dropped two of three doubles contests. Freshman Johnatha Danzic led the way, winning both of his singles matches and his doubles match alongside partner Alejo Zurmendi. Malte Sommer and Will Bayliss also stood out, going undefeated in singles play.

The women's team dominated, winning five of six singles matches against Hardin-Simmons and sweeping Western New Mexico in singles. They also claimed five of six overall doubles matches. Zeynep Ege and Paulina Hudson were standout performers, remaining undefeated in both singles and doubles.

"The teams showed great resilience and mental toughness this weekend with some great matches," Head Coach Wade Morgan said. "We are getting better and better, and I am ready to see what we can do in the regionals and beyond."

Both teams now turn their focus to the ITA Regionals in Salina, Kansas, their final event of the fall season.
