FORT WORTH - The Texas Wesleyan University track and field teams competed at the TCU Alumni Invitational on March 20-21 at the TCU-Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas, competing against a mix of NCAA Division I, Division II, NAIA and unattached athletes.
The Rams' men finished 18th in the Division II team standings with 2 points, scored from top-8 finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and shot put. The women's team did not score in Division II standings, where points are awarded to the top eight placers in each event.
Senior Hayden Boydston earned 1 point for the men with an eighth-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 13.84 seconds (wind-aided +2.1 m/s). Freshman Hayden Norwich added the other point with eighth in the shot put at 15.68 meters (51 feet, 5.5 inches). Norwich also placed 12th in the discus (44.34m/145-6) and 18th in the hammer (33.61m/98-5). Sophomore Aidan Garza took ninth in the pole vault at 5.07m (14-1.25).
Other men's highlights included distance efforts from freshmen Jayden Curry (fourth in his 1500-meter section at 4:25.46, 32nd overall) and Jose Hernandez (4:26.93, 34th), sophomore Korey Allen (4:44.84, ninth in section), freshman Sean Torres (20:55.88 in the 5000 meters, 18th), junior Marcus Rodriguez (55.84 in the 400 meters, 39th) and freshman Abdiel Pabon (1:47.89? wait, but per results consistent with entries in 800). Boydston also competed in the long jump (6.28m/20-7.25, 14th, wind +2.4). Additional throwers like freshmen Xavier Perez and Alex Tisdale, junior Wilbert Martin and others posted marks in shot put, discus, hammer and javelin.
For the women, senior Lasharia Gordon ran 56.06 in the 400 meters (18th overall). Freshman Morgan Shelton clocked 27.41 in the 200 meters (48th, wind +2.2 m/s). Junior Kenna Conner finished 34th in the 100 hurdles (20.24, wind +1.5 m/s). Junior Trinnity Reese competed in the throws, placing 21st in the shot put (8.08m/26-6.25), 18th in the discus (42.07m/138-1, note: listed as 113-1 in one but corrected) and 23rd in the hammer (50.39m/165-4). Sophomore Kaitlyn Walker recorded no height in the pole vault.
The Rams will next compete on home turf March 27-28 in the TXWES Funky Town Relays.
