AUSTIN, TX: Saturday’s men’s soccer game between Texas Wesleyan University (4-13, 3-6 RRAC) and Huston-Tillotson University (9-8-1, 7-2) was abandoned after a fourth Texas Wesleyan player was ejected approximately 65 minutes into the contest.
Because the game had not reached 70 minutes, and therefore was not an official game, the game was forfeited by Texas Wesleyan, resulting in a 1-0 Huston-Tillotson win. Although the scoreboard read 4-1 favoring Huston-Tillotson, statistics from the game will not count.
Victor Colin staked HTU to a 2-0 lead early in the contest, but Ricardo Aguilera scored to bring the score to 2-1 before the break.
At the start of the second half, TWU’s Chase Richeson was tagged with a red card and the Rams played on a man down. Five minutes later, TJ Romaguera received a second yellow card. Five minutes after that Ivan Kovacevic was hit with a second yellow and the Rams found themselves playing with eight men. Approximately 65 minutes into the game, the Rams were hit with a fourth ejection and the center referee elected to abandon the contest.
The disappointing loss ends the Rams season. The team finishes in eighth in the Red River Athletic Conference standings with only the top six teams advancing to the Conference Tournament.
