SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (2-9, 1-2 RRAC) suffered its seventh one-goal loss of the season on Thursday. This time it was a 1-0 defeat at Our Lady of the Lake University (6-1, 1-1).
The Saints outshot the Rams 15-9 for the game. Each team took three corner kicks. The Rams were called for 13 fouls and one card, while the Saints were called for seven fouls and received no cards.
The lone goal of the game came in the 40th minute. Ramiro Ramirez appeared to be offside, but the assistant referee did not judge him to have stayed behind the line. Ramirez chased down Alain Vallejo’s pass and found the net. The Rams had quality chances to tie, but could not convert.
“The guys played well today,” commented head coach Gaspar Martinez. “We were in the game the whole time. Now we have to move on and prepare for UT-Brownsville.”
The Rams will continue their RRAC road trip on Saturday, when they travel to Brownsville, TX, to take on UT-Brownsville. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
