FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (21-23, 13-8 RRAC) took a pair of losses to Our Lady of the Lake University (25-16, 16-5 RRAC) at Sycamore Park on Saturday. The Lady Rams dropped game one 3-0 before losing 9-2 in game two.

 

The Lady Saints picked up a run in the second innings with a RBI double down the left field line from Michelle Salinas to take a 1-0 lead.

 

Our Lady of the Lake picked up another run off of a Brooke Hernandez home run that cleared the right center fence to put the Lady Saints up 2-0.

 

OLLU got another run in the fifth off of a successful double steal play to extend the lead to 3-0.

 

The Lady Rams loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of hits and a walk, but could not produce any runs, falling 3-0 in game one.

 

Lindsay Cline led the Lady Rams going 2 for 3. Raven Moreno and Haley Butler both went 1 for 3 in the loss.

 

Taylor Hodge (8-9) got the loss. She threw 7.0 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout.

 

Our Lady of the Lake jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start game two that started with a lead off single from Tiffany Stritz. She eventually scored as the Lady Saints went on a two out rally that included RBI singles by the fifth, sixth, and seventh hole batters to put the Lady Rams in a 4-0 deficit.

 

The Lady Saints added four more runs in the fourth after a pair of Lady Ram errors led to a pair of RBI hits from the middle of the lineup and OLLU took an 8-1 lead.

 

The Lady Rams got a run in the bottom of the seventh off of a Moreno RBI single that scored Tara Martinez but that would be all Texas Wesleyan could as they drop game two 9-2.  

 

Ashley Tarrant (10-9) got the loss in 4.0 innings of work giving up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, no walks and one strikeout.

 

Martinez went 2 for 2 and scored a run in the loss. Moreno went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI for the Lady Rams.

 

The Lady Rams travel to Victoria, TX to play in the Houston-Victoria University Tournament on April 22-23. Game times are to be determined.
