HOUSTON-VICTORIA FORFEITED THIS CONTEST ON 10/26/11
VICTORIA, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (3-3-1) suffered a 2-0 loss at the University of Houston-Victoria (8-1) on Sunday.
The first half was a defensive battle, with the Jaguars taking a slight 4-3 edge in shots.
In the second half, UHV broke the tie scoreless tie with a goal from Ranique Ramsarupe in the 61st minute. The Jaguars later tacked on a goal from Hector Gonzalez in the 84th minute to account for the 2-0 final score.
The game was remarkably close statistically. UHV led 11-10 in shots. Both teams took three corner kicks, and the Rams were called for 11 fouls to UHV’s nine. Nathan Kenyon made five saves for the Jaguars, while
Dejan Milosevic made four stops.
The contest was marred by seven yellow cards, five against UHV and two against the Rams.
The Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College in their Red River Athletic Conference season opener. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m.
