FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University (3-5-2, 3-1-1 RRAC) had to settle for a 1-1 draw against rival Northwood University (3-5-2, 2-1-2 RRAC) at Martin Field on Thursday.

The Rams played well in the first half, keeping the Knights out of the shot column.

The Knights played decent defense despite a slew of Wesleyan runs.

The two rivals took the nil-nil tie to half time.

Dejan Milosevic made a spectacular save after Leonardo Reyes sent a laser that was stopped in its tracks by the Wesleyan keeper.

The Rams again made a fantastic defensive play as Hector Sanchez picked up the trash with a huge block that saved a goal.

The Rams dominance finally paid off late in the second half after a foul set up an Ivan Kovacevic set piece. Kovacevic found Clay Lawson to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Later in the half, the Knights were lucky to receive a penalty kick from an accidental hand ball in the box. Trey Matthews put in the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

The Rams conditioning was a focal point of the second half, as the Knights repeatedly needed help off the field because of exhaustion.

For regulation, the Rams out-shot the Knights 12-6, while shots on goal were 5-3 in favor of Wesleyan. The foul count was TWU 22 to NU 18.

The Knights stalled and postured their way to a tie, wasting time in both overtime periods seemingly happy to pick up the draw.

The Rams will play LSU-Shreveport on Saturday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Martin Field.
