FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University head cross country and track coach Nat Amare announced today the signing of Josh Matthews out of Fort Worth's R.L. Paschal High School.
 
Matthews was a two-time team captain at PHS in both cross country and track.  In 2011 he was a semifinalist for the Christian Athlete of the Year in the State of Texas.
 
Matthews is the brother Zach Matthews who played one season with the Texas Wesleyan University men's basketball team.  He is the son of Steve and Shirley Matthews.
 
In just the program's second season, the Texas Wesleyan men's cross country team claimed its first Red River Athletic Conference Championship this season.  The men's track & field team is in midseason form as well after placing fifth in the conference in their inaugural season one year ago.
