SHAWNEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University men's cross country team placed sixth at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday.
The nation's top-ranked team, Oklahoma City University took the team title for the second straight year. The Stars scored the victory with 23 points as they had three runners in the top-five and five in the top-10.
Wayland Baptist's Bernard Keeter led all 70 individuals through the course with a time of 24:15.42.
Texas Wesleyan's
Oraine Wint earned All-Conference recognition by placing seventh with a time of 25:51.46. That was enough to qualify Wint to run at the NAIA National Championship as the top team and next four individuals earned automatic bids.
Nathan Garcia (28:12.95),
Brandon Goolsby (28:16.95), and
Tal Thomas (28:18.86) placed 31-33.
Michael Vega finished 50th for Texas Wesleyan in a time of 30:14.99, while
Mackenzie Jameson finished 58th at 31:49.93.
The NAIA National Championship will be held Lawrence, KS, on Saturday November 22.
