ARKADELPHIA, AR: The Texas Wesleyan University women's tennis team (1-1) earned its first win of the young season with an impressive 5-4 victory at NCAA Division II Henderson State University (0-1) on Saturday.
The Rams took two of three doubles matches.
Katy Foster and
Loli Garcia took the top line 8-4 over Thea Minor and Lauren Miller, while
Ashton Willis and
Maggie Brasher defeated Alisha Davis and Maddie McJunkins 8-5 on the third line.
Katy Foster knocked off Sara Griffin 6-2, 6-2 in #2 singles, and
Maggie Brasher earned a three-set 6-0, 2-6, 10-2 win over Alisha Davis on the fifth line. The match came down to #6 singles, and
Laura Grunden topped McJunkins 6-3, 6-4 to give the Lady Rams the victory.
The Rams will return to action October 7-8 at the Collin County Fall Open. That tournament will mark their final competition of the fall semester.

- The Rams are off to a solid start in doubles at 9-5 on the season. Last year they posted a doubles record of 64-49.
