VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan women's golf team captured its seventh program win at the Claud Jacobs Invitational at The Club at Colony Creek on Monday. The Lady Rams completed the second and final round with a team score of 329, for a total score of 638.
The Lady Rams finished the tournament with a ten stroke lead ahead of Murray State. The Racers passed Ranger College with a day two low-round of 322, but it wasn't enough to catch TXWES. Southwestern Christian caught up with Ranger to secure a share of the third spot.
Emily Hunt took second out of 44 golfers, shooting +7 (73-78-151), just two strokes behind UHV's Kelly Swanson. Hunt and Swanson dominated the courses four par five holes, shooting -2 for the tourney.
Joely Henderson and
Elena Sinde Romero were models for consistency, racking up 21 pars each in the 36-hole event.
The team will compete in the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club. The two-day, 36-hole tournament will get underway on Monday, March 11.
