OKLAHOMA CITY - No. 15 Texas Wesleyan women's golf, for the second-consecutive season, finished 15th at the NAIA National Championship, shooting a 310 in Round 4, Friday. British Columbia led through 36 and 54 and won the tournament, the program's fifth national title and their first since 2012.

NAIA Women's Golf has improved dramatically over the last five years. The Lady Rams shot 32 strokes better (1232) than their previous 1264 shot in 2015 when the team finished 9th, but finished six places off that mark at the Lincoln Park Golf Club's West Course. It was the first time the tournament successfully completed four rounds of golf since then, playing weather-shortened competition three-straight years.

Elena Sinde Romero shot a 79 Friday, finishng 49th out of the 97 golfers who made the cut heading into Thursday's third round. Romero's 306, four-round total broke Alex Schies 2015 record for lowest four-round total by four strokes. Joely Henderson scored an 80 and birdied the fifth hole for the fourth day in a row.

Emily Hunt brided the 12th hole for the first time in the tournament - a par-3, 144-foot hole - and finished with a Friday-leading 75 for the Lady Rams. Her 75 was just one stroke worse than her week's-best 74 in Round 1. Jaci Trotter shot her best round of the tourney with a 76 that included birdies on holes three and five.

Since the program first made nationals in 2015, TXWES has finished in the top 15 of the National Championship five seasons in a row. Team seniors Romero and Trotter played in their third and second national tournaments, respectively, to close out their collegiate careers.

In the last four seasons, four different teams have won the title, which goes to the parity of the sport. Maybe 2020 will be the year of the Ram.
